Q & A
-
I work with individuals 18 years and older. I work with folks in relationships - monogamous, ethically non monogamous, queer, and interracial/multicultural relationships.
Serving those who reside in California

A consultation is a free 15-30 minute virtual meeting that I schedule with every prospective client.
Consultations are important because they provide an opportunity for us to connect and begin feeling out therapeutic fit. I will ask you about yourself and your goals for therapy. Additionally, we will review logistics, and you will have the chance to ask me questions to determine if I am the right therapist for you.
If you are uncertain about therapy, or wondering whether or not it is for you – That’s fair. While I believe everybody can benefit from therapy, at the end of the day it has to be a personal choice as one’s willingness to be in the “room” greatly impacts therapeutic success. I encourage folks to explore and consult with a few therapists to see who feels like a good match as no two therapists are alike.

That is a great question! Please see the individual therapy and relationship therapy page for a more in depth answer on what to expect in therapy sessions.
-
$180 for Individual Therapy
$220 for Relationship/Couples Therapy
Sessions can be scheduled weekly or every other week depending on your needs.
Any sessions canceled with less than 24 hours notice will be charged the full fee, unless it can be rescheduled in the same week.
I reserve your therapy time just for you and last minute cancellations do not allow me enough time to schedule someone else in that slot.
Good Faith Estimate
You have a right to receive a "Good Faith Estimate" explaining how much your medical and mental health care will cost. Under the law, healthcare providers need to give patients who don't have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services. You have a right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services.
You can ask your healthcare provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises.

Yes. I offer a limited number of sliding scale slots. Currently I do not have any sliding scale slots available.
I accept Loveland Vouchers! However, Loveland will only cover up to $120 of each session, which means you will be responsible for the balance. They also only provide a maximum of 12 vouchers, so if you would like to continue our work together once your vouchers have concluded, you will be responsible for paying the full fee for the session.

Therapy is nonlinear and oftentimes nebulous; there is no designated number of sessions because each client’s needs will be unique and therefore require different approaches that take varying amounts of time.
I regularly check in with clients to see if they feel our space is productive and that they are meeting their goals. If so, next steps might include focusing on a new goal, decreasing the frequency of our sessions, or transitioning out of therapy.
Some clients come specifically for maintenance. They use the space to talk openly and digest life events as a part of their mental health routine – much like going to the gym.
Things happen in life so we can always tailor the space to fit your needs – both immediate and long-term.
-
I only offer virtual sessions.
I serve all of California - Los Angeles, Pasadena, Sherman Oaks, North Hollywood, Studio City, The Bay Area, Oakland, Sacramento, San Diego and more
Session are held via SimplePractice or Zoom (both HIPAA compliant platforms)

I do not accept insurance for several reasons which are aimed at providing the best care for my clients. Insurance companies often dictate the number of sessions, specific issues covered, and treatment approaches allowed, which can limit the effectiveness of therapy. They require a mental health diagnosis for coverage, which may not align with the needs or goals of every client and pathologizes seeking therapeutic support for overall health and well-being. This can place barriers on the consistent work that many clients benefit from.
I understand that the cost of therapy without insurance may not be feasible for everyone. However, I believe the therapy I provide is worth the investment. Working outside of insurance allows me the flexibility to tailor therapy to each individual, and avoid unnecessary labels and diagnoses,
If you have out-of-network benefits, I can provide superbills at your request (see “Do you accept insurance”), but please note that this will require a clinical diagnosis for insurance approval. We will have a transparent conversation about any diagnosis I put on your superbill.
In an effort to balance out the shortcomings of the healthcare system, I offer limited sliding scale slots (see “Do you offer sliding scale”). I also accept therapy vouchers from the Loveland organization.
I am happy to speak about this more at length with you if you desire. Feel free to ask me during a consultation or send me an email to set up a time to chat.

No - I am not in-network with any insurance providers. However, many health insurance plans have "out-of-network" benefits, which means that the insurance company may reimburse you for a portion of the cost of therapy sessions.
As an out-of-network provider, I use Mentaya to assist clients in getting reimbursed for therapy. Most insurance plans offer benefits that may reimburse between 40-80% of session fees. This reduces your overall payment and is similar to a doctor’s visit co-pay or no cost after meeting your deductible. Use the Mentaya tool at the bottom of this page to see if you qualify for reimbursement for my services.
If you qualify, Mentaya will handle everything with insurance to make sure you get your money back. Mentaya charges a 5% fee per claim, which includes handling any paperwork required, dealing with denials, and calling insurance companies.
Mentaya is an optional service for clients who have out-of-network benefits, feel overwhelmed by superbills and insurance, have submitted superbills but failed to get any reimbursement and simply want to skip the hassle of paperwork!
If you would prefer not to use Mentaya as a service, I can provide you with a superbill that you can submit to your insurance company yourself for possible reimbursement.
